Post #5 – Computers in the Workplace

I will be explaining the functions of computers in the specific field of Sales within Frito-Lay as that is where I am the most knowledgeable. I have been in a sales role in one way or another in the past seven years with the company. Even as I have swapped roles and progressed my career with the company, technology, and computers have been key every step of the way.

Computers are important tools for sales representatives in the Frito-Lay industry. They are used to perform a variety of functions, including managing inventory, generating sales reports, and tracking customer orders. Specifically, computers help front-line Frito Lay route sales representatives in the following ways:

  1. Managing inventory: Computers allow sales representatives to track inventory levels, place orders for products, and monitor product sales.

  2. Generating sales reports: Sales representatives use computers to generate sales reports that help them identify sales trends and make informed decisions about product placement.

  3. Tracking customer orders: Computers help sales representatives track customer orders, manage delivery schedules, and ensure that orders are fulfilled on time.

  4. Communication: Computers allow sales representatives to communicate with customers and colleagues via email, video conferencing, and other communication tools.

It is important for employees in the Frito Lay industry to be computer-literate because it helps them work more efficiently and effectively. With the use of computers, sales representatives can manage their tasks and responsibilities more accurately and efficiently, improving customer service and overall productivity. Being computer literate also allows sales representatives to stay up-to-date with technological advancements, which are essential in staying competitive in the industry.

In the next 10 years, we can expect to see advancements in computer hardware, operating systems, and networking that will impact the Frito-Lay industry. For example, there will be increased usage of cloud-based software and tools that will help route sales representatives access and manage customer data more efficiently. Additionally, there will be more use of mobile devices and apps, which will make it easier for sales representatives to access critical information while on the go. We can also expect to see advancements in data analytics that will enable sales representatives to make better-informed decisions based on real-time data. Finally, we can expect to see increased integration of artificial intelligence and machine learning technologies that will help sales representatives automate routine tasks and make more accurate predictions about customer behavior.
